Balcarres Self Catering

This is our third visit to Balcarres Guest House and we would definitely recommend it. The apartment is very homely and comfortable and has fantastic views. It is about a 15-20 minute walk into town and offers good value for money. Andy and Carole are very friendly and helpful.

Fishy Fishy is an excellent restaurant on Fort William High Street.

A great apartment in a fabulous location. Lots of useful information was provided on check in and in the folder in the apartment. We were made very welcome when we arrived. Lovely to have the Christmas tree in the property. A fabulous stay thankyou.

Ben Nevis bakery is a delight. The wildcat vegan Cafe in High street caters to dietary needs of gluten and lactose intolerance.⁶ Neptune staircase on caledonian canal is an engineering marvel and a must visit.

Friendly service. We used self catering and found Balcarres a wonderful location. The Loch right outside our windows and two bench’s for water viewing on the lawn.

Self catering is great for longer stays. Balcarres has self laundry for a fee which helped us in our choice of apartments. Walkable to downtown. Our hosts, Carole and Andy included a location book with recommendations for restaurants, things to do and walks. The laminated walk sheets, we took with us and brought back, we’re so very helpful.

The apartment is in a great location to get into Fort William town centre. Beautiful view from the apartment of Loch Linnie. Lovely apartment for 2 people.

Andy and Carol provided a book with all the information you needed during your stay from walks to places to eat out. We went on one of the walks and the route was explained perfectly.

Clean ,well furnished flat with excellent views towards Loch Linnie. we had no problems at all and would recommend a stay here.

Lots to do in and around Fort William. The town is about ten /fifteen- minute walk from Balcarres,good pubs and restaurants. there are walks around the area (suggested walks from the hosts are available) and if you feel fit then there is Ben Nevis!!. There is a steam train that leaves Fort William to Mallaig which was enjoyable and there are boat trips around the loch which eas pleasent.

Excellent apartment with beautiful views. The apartment was very clean, cosy and had everything we needed. Andy and Carole are so friendly and provide really good tips about trips and walks. Fort William is such a good base for the Highlands. This is our second visit to Balcarres and we would highly recommend it.

There is so much to see and choices very . The host has a folder of places of interest which is very helpful if your not sure ask them they will be able to give you advice on coffee shops and nice places to eat

The apartment was everything we needed for our 5 night stay. Clean.warm.comfortable.with a fantastic view over loch linnhe. The welcome hamper was a thoughtful touch and the tea and biscuits were enjoyed straight away after a long journey. The information pack gave us some beautiful trips to Loch ness,Isle of skye and the road to Mallaig.

Fantastic scenery which ever way you go.. Rain didn't stop our adventures. Plenty of places to eat and shop.

Superb apartment. Clean, warm, well supplied with everything you could possibly need. Not a large apartment but plenty big enough for us and a dog. Definitely planning to return for longer than a weekend.

Easy walk into Fort William. Variety of pubs and restaurants to suit every taste and pocket. Very useful to have information in the apartment with regard to this, especially the dog friendly ones. Lots of walking both from the apartment or a short drive away. Again, information in the apartment very useful. If you're feeling energetic the Ben Nevis centre is less than 2 miles away. Park the car for £6 per day and walk up Ben Nevis. Lovely 2 hour cruise round Loch Linnie. Very knowledgeable and informative crew, pity the wildlife didn't show up for us. The view from the lounge window across the loch is just beautiful, a lovely place to just sit, relax and enjoy the scenery.

Printed sheets at accommodation very useful for some lovely walks. Not far from Ben Nevis. Enjoyed boat trip on Loch Lynnhe. Some lovely beaches if you don't mind driving and walking. Stunning scenery anyway. Good view of loch to wake up too

Lovely warm welcome Loch view apartment is a great base to explore the area . Clean ,warm ,great views , welcome basket and wildlife literally on the doorstep Marvelous

Plenty of supermarkets in Fort William , lidl , Morrisons, Marks nSpencee aldi so great for stocking up the apartment. Visit Glen Nevis , Glencoe and lots of other stunning places

Ben Nevis is no hill walk more a mountain climb! Be prepared Not much too Fort William but nice meal & drinks on Ben Nevis Bar balcony
