We felt very welcome in your lovely establishment. It was very kind of you to say mail us about the room which was free, so we could upgrade our room. The view was very nice and we loved the breakfast provided.

Tips:

Drive to glencoe to see the Three Sisters! We really liked the Hidden Valley trail which start from there, but be aware it’s not an easy track..

The guest house and rooms we very well presented and Bronwyn was very welcoming. Breakfast was superb. Great views across the loch

Tips:

Fort William is a great town with many shops and restaurants. The Fishy Fish restaurant avove the takeaway chip shop was a brilliant find and extremely good food. A visit to the museum is a must on a wet day. Use the car park on the island nearest the guest house. There is always plenty of space and reasonably priced. If you not a mountaineer, I would recommend a drive up the Nevis Glenn to the top car park and a walk to the waterfall. The scenery is stunning.

We had a wonderful stay. The hostess was incredibly attentive and thought along with us (even about our next stay in Skye). The room was clean and the shower was very nice. The breakfast was simple, but completely fine. There was a possibility to dry our clothes after a rainy walk on Ben Nevis. We absolutely recommend the guesthouse.

Tips:

If the weather permits, start your walk on Ben Nevis early to avoid crowds

18th August 2024:

Although the guest house was a bit out of town, the view truly was fabulous, and with a car, getting around was easy. We enjoyed going into town for dinner, and then hanging out in the evenings in the guest lounge looking out at the water and mountains while we caught up on emails, reading, etc. Bronwen and Graeme were gracious hosts, with helpful sightseeing suggestions, tips, etc.

Tips:

During busy August, getting into town early evenings for dinner is a must (maybe aim for 6:30), before places run out of food (that was a new thing for us). We thoroughly enjoyed our ride-arounds to Skye and in the Highlands, using this lovely spot as our home base.

We had a lovely stay. The guest lounge has a beautiful view, beds are comfortable, everything was very clean. And the owner gave us some very good advice about what to do nearby.

Tips:

Bistro Alexandra is a good restaurant. Avoid M M restaurant where nothing is homemade. Steall falls are worth the walk, as the Viaduc path at Glenfinnan.

Location has a very nice view over the Loch, but it is a 30 minutes walk to the town centre. When returning late there are no street lights and it is quite dark, unfortunately. However, this is the only little drawback. We really liked the Guest House with all its facilities and the hospitality of our hosts.

Tips:

Restaurant tip: Geographer.

We thoroughly enjoyed the stay at Stronchreggan View. Great breakfast. Bronwen and Graeme were very accommodating on our late arrival (10.45pm) and helped booking taxis even at last minute. We spent a few days in Fort William and the guest house is at about 25 mins walk from town but with some planning you can get by on busses taxis and train.

Tips:

We liked the tandoori spice restaurant and the deli for lunch. The west highlands museum is highly recommended. Had a very enjoyable stay and Bronwen, our host, was most helpful in giving us info regarding local sights, amenities and she had great knowledge of the area. We were able to stay in our room if we were having a relaxing day and did not want to be out all the time. Breakfast was yummy and plenty of choice of cereals, fresh fruit, croissants etc or a full English with lots of toast and butter. Bronwen even made up a ‘take out’ pack for our last days breakfast as we were leaving very early to drive home.

Tips:

Try the Brewers Fare (behind Morrisons) for a cheap and tasty lunch. 2 courses for 2 people was about £15.00 in total. The Tavern did good food as well and was a reasonable price. There are plenty of eateries in the high street to choose from. A trip in the cable car at Anoch ore is good ,if you’re ok with heights and worth it once you reach the top. There is a cafeteria at the top.A ride on the steam train over the Glenfinnon Viaduct (think Harry Potter) is not worth the £50 return fare. You can do the same trip on the ordinary train for approx £15 return.

Book your restaurants - we found the good restuarants very busy even in October. you cannot book The Geographer (which we would not rave about - okay but not as good as the reviews imply!) but if you want a wonderful meal, book Crannog

I have been over in Fort William numerous times, but this was the first staying at The Stronchreggan View guest house and I can definitely stay again. Our hosts Bronwen & Graeme were excellent, the rooms and bathroom were spotless and only a short dander to town! What else could you ask for.

Tips:

We always treat ourselves at The Crannog restaurant in Fort William an absolutely beautiful fish restaurant. Plenty of Hiking to do in the area including the mighty Ben Nevis! And surrounding mountains.

Ideal spot for exploring Fort William town (walking distance) and for climbing Ben Nevis. Room was large, comfortable and spotless. Bronwen is very friendly and accommodating, we didn’t meet Graeme but his emails were very nice and informative.

Tips:

We used local taxi firms to get around, didn’t prebook but despite being August always managed to get one at short notice. Took boat from Town Pier to Seal Island - lovely relaxing experience after previous day’s long walk. Booked Ben Nevis Inn for dinner which was perfect after coming down off the mountain tired and hungry.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Booked for three nights for nine of us, bed and breakfast. The rooms were presented very well and very clean with kettle and tea coffee. Maybe the shower could have a bit more pressure especially when you have been for trekking it would be very nice to to have a powerful shower. The host and hostess full of knowledge of the area and fulfilled any requests made. Used the lounge for snacks and drinks and that wasn’t a problem. Infect provided us with plates and cutlery and so on. The views of the lock and mountains from the guest house were to die for. Thoroughly recommend Stronchreggan Guest House

Plenty of restaurants, pubs and various shops including supermarkets within half an hours walk or 5 mins drive and park for upto 24 hours for £5

A very comfortable guesthouse. The facilities in the room were excellent. And we had a great view. Graeme and Bronwren were excellent hosts, very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was amazing, we chose the cooked breakfast on both days and were even given option of black pudding or haggis with our eggs and bacon! There was also plenty of fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereals.

Tips:

We were in Fort William to start the Great Glen Walk. We did have a free day to look around and explore. We took the Jacobite train to Mallaig (you must pre book), a wonderful trip even if you are not a Harry Potter fan! Lots off outdoor gear shops in Fort William, all within walking distance. Big super markets are on the other side of the train station.

A little mix up with the location and getting there at first if you are not familiar with the area, as the whole street has the same post code! Bronwen is such a lovely host and prepared the most beautiful breakfasts (brilliant portions & super yummy!) The accommodation is spotless and has an at home vibe about the place. Bronwen was kind enough to outline some must see areas to visit during our stay and me and my friend had such a good sleep both nights! The highlight for me was the views available just across the way on the water. I did a 5:30 am start of yoga underneath the most beautiful sunrise - would definitely stay again!

Tips:

There are so many activities to get involved in and so many things to see if you are into wild walks and beautiful scenery! I definitely think you'd need a car though to make the most out of the experience in the area. We climbed Ben Nevis and I couldn't be more thrilled of the location!

Tips:

Great distance from Fort William - which means you can walk into the town centre in about 20 minutes and access all the amenities without a taxi. Easy access to the mountains and tourist destinations. Sometimes Fort William could be busy with traffic without any reason and other times clear and easy to travel through. My party enjoyed their stay at Stronchreggan although needed to depart early for a train so cannot comment upon breakfast. The accommodation offers comfortable and functional rooms and a nice lounge with a scenic overlook.

Tips:

The property is located approximately 1 mile from the town centre along the main road. A flat walk in pleasant weather or inexpensive taxi fare when not.

It was our first stay at Stronchreggan View Guest House, Our hosts Bronwen & Graeme were absolutely brilliant from when we checked into our room until the end of our holiday, they were very friendly & had a very good knowledge of the area & surrounding places of interest, our room was immaculate with our own private bathroom , both being cleaned along with fresh towels etc everyday, breakfast was second to none with an excellent variety of breakfast options & very tasty too! We met some lovely people during our stay & really enjoyed our breakfast every morning in a great , relaxed & friendly atmosphere. We would have loved to have stayed the week & will definitely look to booking this fab guest house again in the future.

We were on a touring holiday in Scotland and this was by far the best palce we stayed- great location with lovely view, friendly hosts, comfortable and well-designed rooms and delicious food. Highly recommended!

Tips:

We enjoyed the Wildcat Cafe and Wetherspoons. A drive to Kyle to go over to Skye was memorable- Skye looked amazing in the sun and showers and a ferry back to Mallaig gave us different scenery on the way back. Also wonderful was a drive through Glencoe, fantastic views.

We had a marvelous stay here while in Fort William. Bronwen & Graham were fabulous hosts. We had the family room, which was a double bed with bunk beds, so our teenagers were thrilled. The location is beautiful with a view of the lake and mountains from the living room. Breakfast was made to order and buffet and was fantastic! Delicious! Only 1 easy mile walk to town for restaurants and shops. Very clean and spacious. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend to all travelers.

Stronchreggan was a very lovely B&B with fantastic views of the loch right outside the window of the front room. Graeme & Bronwen were lovely and very helpful, and breakfast was good. Overall a very lovely stay for the end of our West Highland Way walk.

Tips:

About a mile from town center, so we definitely ate dinner before walking to the B&B (as we were dead tired and were not about to walk 2 miles round trip back to town), but view from the B&B was very well worth it. Also lovely being just a little bit outside of the center regardless.

the Graeme and Bronwen are excellent hosts. We loved the room and the spectacular view of the Loch. The facility is spotless, the beds very comfortable, the breakfasts are excellent, generous and flavorful. We loved our stay and would return. Though we had no car, we easily reached the town centre via the paved pedestrian track that runs along the Loch and through a waterfront park.

Tips:

Fort William abounds with outdoor activities including the famous "West Highland Way", Ben Nevis, and numerous day hikes. Harry Potter fans will want to ride the Jacobite train to Malig. There are trains and coaches that will take you to the Inner Hebrides, and from which you can take nature tours, visit Scotch distilleries and see castles and rugged sea and landscapes. There are also fishing trips that can be arranged in season. The town itself has many pubs and restaurants, shops and a nice museum. There is a pedestrian-only street that runs through the town center, and a fine common green surrounded by nice hotels and stately churches. Those finishing the “West Highland Way” can buy a pint and receive a free certificate at the Crofter Pub.

We stayed only one night at this nice bed and breakfast, but it was wonderful. The room was clean and big enough and the bathroom was the same. I loved the colour of the bedclothes and the little Details of our room. The breakfast was great and the Owners of the B&B gave us a warm feeling. I would always stay again at this fantastic place.

Tips:

The View at the lake is amazing, but it's better to have a car to get to this place, it's not directly in the city. We liked the crofters bar in town. It was tasty food, good beer and fair prices.

I loved my stay here even though it was for only one night. I was made to feel very welcome. My room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. I had a great nights sleep. I came down a little early for breakfast so I sat in their beautiful lounge overlooking the loch. The large window and comfortable leather chairs, I could have sat there all day. The Scottish breakfast was brilliant served in the beautiful dining room. I wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend this guest house to anyone staying in Fort William, I will certainly make it my first choice if I am back up that way.

Tips:

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to do much but I did manage to get into town which is a short distance from the guest house.

3 adults and 2 children stayed at the Stronchreggan View. The family room was amply sized with a single and double bed with en suite. It was very clean and tidy throughout. No view from the room, but the glorious lounge was the perfect place to gaze at the loch. There was plenty of hot water and towels in our room. The double room had its own bathroom across the hall which was fine. Breakfast was just right - plenty of toast and a good quality fry up. Bronwen was wonderful.

Tips:

The guest house is 1.3 miles from the main street with restaurants and pubs. A nice walk on a fine evening, not so good if it's raining! Plenty of taxis for the journey home after a few pints. We paid £6 for the 5 of us in a minibus.

Nice b&b. Clean and well maintained rooms. Perfect base to explore the area around. Absolutely nice hosts, who are always at hand with good tips!

Tips:

A lot of nice things to see around. Try to get a view at the jacobite steam train (aka hogwarts express) crossing the glenfinnan viaduct. Best view: little private road (no cars allowed, use parkingspace at the beginning), about 50yds from the glenfinnan monument visitor center. 10 minute walk from the carpark and then a little climb uphill to the left (follow sign to train museum) and you will have a perfect view. Train will pass at about 10:40am, heading towards your location! You can take a look at the train in advance at the station in fort william. And: take something against midges with you!

21st May 2014:

We loved our visit here - it is a phenomenal location with incredible views over the lake, especially from the guest lounge area downstairs. Perfect place to come back and unwind. The only reason it doesn't have a 5 for location is that it could be closer to the high street in Ft. William, though it is still an easy walk to get there. Room itself was small, but sufficient; we had a private bathroom that was not attached to the room, which was different for us, but worked out just fine. Graeme and his wife were very friendly and welcoming, and had great suggestions for what to do with our time. We would love to come back, and definitely recommend it to others.

Tips:

We didn't spend enough time here - only one night along a road-trip. It's definitely worth sticking around for a few days, and perfect for going out for day hikes or a day on the lake. It's a pretty easy 20-minute walk to Ft. William's high street, and Graeme has great recommendations for dining in Ft William.

Nice view on the loch from our room, confortable double bed, large TV set, hair-dryer. Large bathroom. Were missing: a second bed table and a seat. Nice breakfast with wonderful view on the loch.

Tips:

The Loch Fyne Oyster Bar is located at about a 15 minutes' drive from Lochside Guesthouse and is worth a visit.
