We loved our stay at Fern Villa. The breakfast was outstanding and the rooms were comfortable. We also appreciated that they included local toiletries which we later hunted down to purchase. This inn is completely run by the cutest couple for the past 18 years. We loved hearing their story and I loved that they made time to hear ours too. It’s a great location and wonderful value.

Another great stay at Fern Villa. Really good breakfast cooked just how you like it. Fantastic menu to choose from catering for all needs and tastes. Relaxed atmosphere and nothing is too much trouble for hosts David and Catherine. Drying room available for walkers who’ve braved the elements. Rooms are comfortable and well equipped. I always sleep well here. Can’t wait to for our next visit.

Plenty of activities around here and handy to be able to reach other places of interest. Private off road car parking for guests. Local supermarket in the village for your extra needs. Would definitely recommend this fine establishment.

Me and my friend had such a lovely time at the guest house! David and Catherine are so friendly and it was very homey, and the room was super cute with a bee theme and comfortable! Would definitely come back to stay if I’m ever in the area again! Also, great breakfast!

Explore all the surrounding trails around glencoe and Ben Nevis. We only had time for one proper hike but would have loved to explore more! Just don’t forget rain friendly outerwear ;)

We felt really well taken care of and welcome, honestly, it might have been the best bed&breakafast/hotel experience we’ve had. We miss Fern Villa and the mountains surrounding it.

The Glencoe taxi service was actually excellent in taking us to and from the mountains.

We had an excellent stay at Fern Villa. The things that particularly stood out were the quality and variety of the breakfasts available, and the attitude of our hosts, who were first-class. Nothing was too much trouble, whether that was drying out our wet clothes and smelly boots, letting us eat in in the evenings (and clearing up after us) and providing recommendations for local services. We would definitely recommend the guest house to other visitors in the future.

I'd recommend planning some wet weather options! The NTS Glencoe visitor centre is definitely worth a visit.

Les hôtes nous ont conseillé Clachaig inn pour le panorama et l’ambiance et ce fut un sans faute. Compte tenu de la pluie nous n’avons pas pu randonnée et avons été jusqu’à Oban à la place, nous ne l’avons pas regretté la baie est très jolie et nous y avons trouvé le soleil…

Fantastic! A beautiful house with a lovely couple who own and run this small and cosy B&B. The rooms have everything to make you feel at home, comfortable beds and pillows, white, fluffy towels and excellent quality bedding and soft furnishing. The bathroom has everything you need with divine toiletries, flannels, cotton buds/balls. An illuminated mirror and even blue lighting if you fancy it. The food David and Catherine serve at breakfast is 5* his porridge is award winning and the best we've tasted! With a choice of local produce for cooked meals, local salmon and kippers, cereals and juices. We had ours and didn’t need to eat until the evening. Our friends recommended Fern Villa to us as they have stayed there since it first opened and we were not disappointed. We will definitely return as this was the best B&B we've ever stayed in. David and Catherine are lovely people and are very knowledgeable about the area they live in. Just ask and they can offer places to eat at night or places to go. Car parking is across the road with dedicated spaces for Fern Villa. Lovely views over the Shinty field to the mountains too. All in all we had a wonderful time in Fern Villa.

We used Quarriers for fish and chips, pizza etc as it was 150 yards away. You can eat in or take away, be aware though they close @ 8pm. Other restaurants are available but I would ring and book as they are popular. There's also a Co-op in the village too.

К сожалению, ресторанов не очень много, часто закрываются около 8 вечера. Зато есть хороший универсальный магазин Co-Op, где можно купить что-то перекусить и товары первой необходимости. Также есть небольшой туристический центр с сувенирным магазином и кафе. Близко сразу 2 остановки общественного транспорта. Около 3 часов пути от Глазго на автобусе.

We had a wonderful stay with excellent service. We felt right at home in the beautiful house and room, and enjoyed the amazingly rich morning brunch cooked and served by the loveliest hosts. The hosts made you feel at home in an instant and provided excellent recommendations for trips around the area. Overall one of the best places we have ever stayed and we would definitely love to revisit.

We loved to see Steall waterfall, which is only a short hike away from the parking lot in glen Nevis, and features an exciting cross of the river by a rope bridge. We furthermore enjoyed going through glencoe and glen etive, which offers a wonderful scenic view of the area. A visit to Oban is also highly recommended. If the weather is nice we would recommend going to the beaches near Morar. Also Mallaig has a lovely tea house with excellent cakes.

We recommend Laroch Restaurant for great Scottish food and Stiff Peaks for pastries. There is an easy 20 minute walk to a beautiful view called Loch Leven View Point.The Winter Thistle is a cute shop with lovely artwork depicting the surrounding Scottish area. Crafts and Things has a lovely little shop and cafe that is great for lunch. Access to the bus is very close.

It is a marvelous place kept lovely by the host. You feel immediately home there. Breakfast was delicious and the location is ideal to get around. Room was very clean with nice en suite bathroom. Space is small, but does not cause a problem. Can strongly recommend it.

As said rooms are a bit tiny, so do not take too much luggage up the stairs. The near restaurant has good food. Also nice is going to the near hotel on the lakeside for a beer with a view.

The Quarrier was good for fish and chips and pizza A visit to the cinema in Fort William is worth considering. The gondola ride past Fort William was a good experience. Glenfinnan, Fort Augustus and Oban are good locations to head for. There are lots of amazing walking options but plan properly to stay safe

The is a gem. A lot of places in Scotland benefit greatly with having a car. But Fern Villa is close enough to the bus stop and some great hikes that I didn’t miss having a car. Catherine was under the weather so sadly we did not meet her. But David hustled and bustled and truly made me feel like I was at a much loved uncle’s home. Their home is beautiful and comfortable and breakfast was delicious and filling. I would return and recommend in a heartbeat.

There are not a lot of restaurants in the close vicinity if you don’t have a car. But it is definitely manageable. Pack a picnic and walk the Glencoe trails. It is stunning. The walk behind the house is also stunning with great views. Bring hiking shoes. And there are ticks (I had one) so socks over pants in tall grasses is recommended. This is a laid back area with the sweetest people and you’ll feel at home instantly.

Very friendly welcome from the host. Room und bathroom very spacious UND very tastefully decorated. Everything in immaculate condition. A fireplace room is available to guests. David made us an excellent breakfast with a different choice every day. He is very friendly and wants to help where possible. After a rainy day walking he put our shoes and jackets in the drying room. Next day we could finish the West Highland Way with dry clothes. The bathroom is compact, but has all you need. I don’t usually write reviews but for Fern Villa Guest House I just had to! We have just had an incredible 3 night stay over the Easter weekend and most definitely plan on returning! The beds were the most comfortable we have ever slept on! Our room was beautiful and clean with a true cosy feel. The views from Fern Villa were spectacular and the location was perfect! We were completely looked after by David from start to finish with the amazing locally sourced breakfasts every morning to his great knowledge on the local area and the lovely chats we had throughout our stay there. Staying at Fern Villa was the best decision we made and made our trip to the highlands one to remember! Catherine and David were excellent hosts. Friendly, helpful and available to answer questions and advice for the local area. The room I was in, at the back of the building, was beautifully appointed. I had a lovely view of the hills and meadows behind the villa. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The shower had fantastic pressure. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. A couple of evenings I bought some salad from the local supermarket and fresh cooked fish from the local pizza/fish n chip shop, and David set me up in the breakfast room when I didn’t feel like eating ‘out’, to eat my dinner (which was delicious). I was also expecting an important letter and had it directed to Fern Villa. Unfortunately, it didn’t arrive whilst I was there but Catherine kindly kept me updated as to the (lack of) progress and was going to send it in to me. In the end, the postal delivery forwarded it to me. But I truly appreciated Catherine and David’s willingness to help me out. Fern Villa was perfectly situated for my adventures around Glencoe, Oban and the Highland Trust conservation reserve. I would absolutely recommend staying here and I’d happily come back.

From the moment I arrived with my grandson, Dave the proprietor of our B&B couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. Our room was exactly what we expected having booked it online. We had a lovely few days at Fern Villa Guest House. David and Catherine were great hosts and couldn't have been more helpful. The guest house was very comfortable and clean and the breakfasts were fantastic, plenty of choice of locally produced ingredients beautifully cooked. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the guest house.

The whole area is beautiful. Glencoe is stunning. We had lovely walks from the guest house around Loch Leven and through the forest on the Lochan trail. We'd also recommend the train ride from Fort William to Mallaig and a trip to Lismore on the ferry. We ate at the Seafood restaurant on the opposite side of Loch Leven, which was excellent. We have also eaten previously at the Lanroch Inn, which was also very good. The village has a very good range amenities accessible on foot.

Catherine and David are fantastic and caring hosts. Each room has its own individual style and very nice decoration. The breakfast is excellent and David has put a lot of effort into extending the choices over the years.

We highly recommend Fern Villa for a trip to the region! Ballachulish is beautifully located at the shore of Loch Leven with easy access to the fantastic mountains of Glen Coe, Glen Etive and the Marmores. Besides outdoor activities you have a good base for day trips to Mallaig, the Ardnamurchan, Oban and other places in the area. The Loch Leven Seafood Cafe, the Laroch and the Clachaig Inn are nice restaurants.

David and Catherine were lovely hosts who provided great hospitality throughout our stay. Breakfast was delicious with a variety of options and locally sourced produce. We made good use of the drying room which David offered us which allowed out wet clothing and boots to dry by the next morning. Rooms were clean and convenient parking is available across the road from the house. Both David and Catherine provided recommendations of things to do and places to eat throughout our stay snd for our onward journey. Overall, very welcoming and would visit again!

Quarrier’s Kitchen which offers pizza and general fish and chip shop options. Located in Ballachulish, only a short walk from the B&B and offers takeaway and eat in facilities.

Stayed here for three nights to take part in the Skyline Scotland event in Kinlochleven. Lovely place to stay. Very welcoming hosts David and Catherine provided us with excellent tasty breakfasts on all mornings including the pre-prepared bircher muesli for our early start on race day. Highly recommended.

Just explore the surroundings, the Ballachullish horseshoe, the Glencoe mountains, the Mamores and the Nevis range are on either on your doorstep or nearby.

We enjoyed morning walks in the Ballachulish village, car drives farther out, including a day trip car ride to Mallaig. On our way to Fern Villa we stopped at Ben Nevis base and visitor center, had very interesting information and short walks.

Lovely guest house. Cosy comfortable rooms. The beds are especially good. Very clean and quiet. The hosts David & Catherine are so helpful, and set you up with a hearty breakfast for the day ahead.

If you intend eating out nearby booking is highly recommended, as it's a very busy area. The location is excellent for exploring the West Highlands. Beinn a Beither is a fantastic mountain and begins only a few minutes walk from the front door.

We were really happy about choosing Fern Villa. The breakfast (both variety and quality) was amazing. The room was small, but had everything we needed. The only slighly annoying thing was the time and number of turns, the tap at the sink would need to let water run. Apart from that we were 100% satisfied.

Both the hidden valley and the lochleven seafood cafe were recommendations made by you guys and they were really worth it. Apart from that we made the hike to Ben Nevis, which was very exhausting but worth the pain!

The nature of this review doesn’t do the Fern Villa justice. We had an amazing stay here and continued to talk, not just the beauty of the region and the luck we had with the weather, but about how great this bed and breakfast was/is. The proprietors are eagerly helpful, informative, attentive and just all around friendly people. Their suggestions are much better than a guide book! The breakfast options are amazing and their attention to detail superb. If we’re lucky enough to get back we would definitely stay at Fern Villa again! Thanks David and Catherine!!

Get out of your car if you’re able. The absolutely stunning views from the road don’t compare to the experience of walking about!! Ask for suggestions, make time to sit in the courtyard (weather permitting) and definitely make time to sit and chat with the proprietors.

Das war eines der besten B&B, das wir je hatten. Das Zimmer war geräumig und stilvoll eingerichtet mit wertigen Holzmöbeln. Im Bad waren gute Pflegeprodukte vorhanden. Man spürte überall die Liebe zum Detail. Die Dusche funktionierte bestens. Wlan war auch gut. Der Inhaber ist sehr zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit, freundlich und sehr nett. Er ist Koch aus Leidenschaft. Zum Frühstück gab es eine große Menüauswahl. Das Essen war hervorragend zubereitet und schmeckte sehr gut. Die zentrale Lage ist bestens geeignet für Unternehmungen um Glencoe herum. Fußläufig gibt es ein gutes Restaurant mit Bar, man muss aber vor reservieren, sowie ein Takeaway. Vor dem B&B gibt es eigene Parkplätze. Insgesamt ein super Preis-Leisungsverhältnis. Wir können diese Unterkunft nur bestens weiterempfehlen.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Fern Villa. Our room was impeccably clean, with a delightful view and beautiful decorations. The house itself is lovely and David our host was so kind and accommodating. We also couldn't get over how delicious the breakfasts were! Fresh and local food to start our days of hiking was fabulous. Fern Villa felt like a home away from home and we will definitely be coming back.

We really enjoyed hiking the Pap of Glencoe, and also visiting the Glencoe Museum. The River Laroch in Ballachulish was also lovely to explore (or sit beside and read!).

Walks: try as many walks in the area as possible; you get to see many points of view of the local area. All amazing walks. Food: we loved the food at the Laroch restaurant, and the Clairaig Inn. The chippy is perfect for a quick dinner.

We had a very nice stay at the guest house. A perfect base for exploring the Glencoe area. The host goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable. There is an extensive breakfast menu to choose from. The room was a bit small, but fine, and above all clean. Lovely beds, great shower, tea and coffee in the room. Free parking at the guesthouse. Highly recommended.

Great area for hiking, great seafood at Lochleven Seafood Bar, a nice local restaurant and pub, good coffee/cake/lunch at the Craftstore in Glencoe.
