Room was too small for 3 people. The walls were paper thin. One of the guests kept my granddaughter awake all night talking on his phone. The bathroom was too small. You could hardly raise your arms in the shower.
Tips:Stay as close as possible to the center of town. Take the Scott Rail to Glenfinnan and save lots of money over the Jacobite Steam Train that travels the same exact route.

There was nothing too much that they would not put themselves out to make our stay memorable. We were doing a marathon and this was to be an early start but we were made a lovely breakfast which for me set me up for my race nicely.

Location is not ideal as it is a 30 minute walk from Fort William. Unless you have a car, I would recommend to stay a bit closer to town. The guesthouse has a beautiful view over the lake. The rooms were very basic, the value for money was not correct in my opinion. However, Fort William is such a popular place that the room prices are sky high. Our hosts were lovely, that made it all right!

It was a lovley place with kind and friendly people running it. When mentioning about sonewhere to eat they phoned up for us and then offered to take us and pick us back up. Above and beyond what we expected and we would definately stay there again.

Liz couldn't be more helpful and the information provided at the B&B was superb. Access to the plug sockets could be better. We bought a 3-way plug as you can't boil the kettle without turning the TV off! We found other plug sockets but they were behind the beds, a simple solution would be to put an extension lead into one of the plug sockets

Very friendly, immaculately clean, with excellent facilities including those extra little touches in our room to make our stay as comfortable as it possibly could be. Breakfast menu is excellent. A great information pack in the room, including maps and menu selections from local restaurants and attractions was very helpful to us. I hope we get the opportunity to stay here again.
Tips:Altonside is a little distance from Fort William town centre, but it is served by a bus route. We walked to town for a meal and walked back afterwards rather than wait for the bus. It is a pleasant walk on the level with outstanding views across the loch.

A lovely place for a short stay. Friendly owner. Breakfast was lovely. Teapot and bottle opener in the room was a nice touch. Helpful advice re our evening meal location and where to visit on leaving. Surprised there wasnt shampoo and shower gel in the room but as overnight stay wasnt a big issue.

This was a very clean and homely location. Liz and Dave who ran the Guest house were very warm, welcoming and helpful. The bed room was small with two single beds, on suite, tv and tea and coffee facility, but very clean and homely. The views from the breakfast room were outstanding. I would definately use the guesthouse again.
Tips:Commando memorial, Glen Nevis visitor centre and Glencoe visitor centre. The Ben Nevis pub in Fort William was very nice, with well priced and good food.

Both my wife and I really loved Alltonside. Nothing was too much trouble for them, you need only ask. The amenities were fantastic and we were given a Loch view room. The only reason I have marked the location down slightly is the distance from Fort William. It is okay if you have a car or a bike but if you walk it is quite a distance, especially if weather changes or you're out late at night. That said I'm sure a taxi would be a reasonable price. The only reason I marked cleanliness down slightly was the fact there was cobwebs over the fire alarm and a spider and its web in the storage cupboard. We couldn't fault the cleaning each day though. The bed was made/changed and we were given fresh towels each day.
Tips:Would certainly recommend seeing the Jacobite Steam Train, a visit to Glenfinnan to hear and see about the 45 uprising, taking the ferry over to Skye, a wander about the shops in Fort William and for the next week (until 13th September) the miniature Kelpies are at Neptunes staircase at Banavie as they are on tour so well worth going and seeing.

From stepping through the door to leaving we were made to feel very, very welcome. The rooms and facilities were just right, warm and comfortable. The owners welcoming and very caring. They ordered taxis, directed us to the best places to eat and we watched as they helped our fellow guests, who were from foreign lands,to source foreign exchange, trips to Ben Nevis etc. The location, opposite the river was perfect. We will be back.
Tips:Turn left as you leave the front of the house, take a 6 minuted walk and you find yourself at a lovely hotel that serves a good menu of reasonably priced meals. Book for a trip on the Jacobite Express, steam train, the experience and scenic views are fantastic.

Great locatio for Fort William, Glencoe and surrounds. Room was good size, however shower pressure very low and sign blocks view when exiting. Being a main road was difficult to see oncoming traffic. Breakfast had a great selection.

Thank you for the use of the drying room this made a huge difference to our stay as we had travelled on motor bikes. The breakfast was excellent.
Tips:The Clan McDuff has a good restraint and bar eating area. But the owner of Alltonside Guest House is also very helpful with suggestions of places to visit or eat at.

Need a decent blind or curtains as we were awake at 4.30am. Need a mat outside the shower. We felt the bunk bed ladder should be fixed as unsafe. Breakfast excellent and offered lifts into town which was appreciated.

Tips:Fort William has been modernised and is looking better. There are chinese, Indian and the usual Pub type eating places. We went to the Chinese which was good. There is a large morrisons where you can refuel, pick up some food or just get a coffee and a cake in the cafe.

Dear Mrs. Allton, we were your Guests for almost 2 weeks in September and enjoyed your hearted hospitality very much day for day. Your home made breakfast was delicious and arranged with several foods we liked. Magdalena Hoven-Hayauchi & Yutaka Hayauchi. Mrs. Allton, could you think about your shower? You could maybe get more power in water supply.
Tips:What we did not know before, and we discovered on place, is the excellent connection to the bus line 44 when we want to go out without our own car (to drink whisky in the town). The bus 44 stopps right in front of Alltonside Guest House and bring you to the Fort William city center from which you can travel further f.e. by Citylink bus or steam locomotive train or usual train, or in the other direction to Kinlochleven, from which you go walking on the famous West Highland Way to Ben Nevis or Glencoe.

Homely B&B just outside Fort Williams town centre overlooking the lake. Parking available and a selection of home cooked breakfast alongside continental breakfast options will set you up for a great day. The owners are lovely and very helpful!
Tips:We decided to drive up to Loch Ness one of the days and of course walked up Ben Nevis the main purpose of our trip. The restaurants are nice, however if you wish to eat at a specific one its best to reserve a table as we had to look for ones that would still take customers at 8pm on that day without reservations.

Very friendly, welcoming and accommodating services. Beautiful location if just a little far out of Fort William to walk to and from town (although the weather during our stay also contributed to that decision!); I suspect it would be a beautiful walk on a clear summer's day!
Tips:Thwarted a little bit by the weather but eventually managed to get into the town and walk around. Ate at the The Ben Nevis Bar which was pretty good and also had the Grog & Gruel recommended to us. Ate at Browns one evening, on the way out of town heading north which served more than reasonable food.

A overall very good place to stay, good views of the loch and hills behind. Staff are helpful, rooms neat and clean, decent breakfast, free car park for 1 car per room. On the neagtive side, shower/toilet room was bit on a smaller side, a fair bit of walk to the town 25 mins average and part of the road is not light in the night and footpath too is narrow at places.

Nice comfortable bed and pillows. Good breakfast - although have to order it the night before. Could be more choices as well. Quite a bit out the way - its a good walk into fort william and ok to do during the day. But at night there is no street lighting and very dark. Suggest getting a taxi £6 from fort william.

Nice and friendly owners, we arrived a little bit late after 9PM as got lost along the way to Fort William, but were welcomed and guided to our rooms. Breakfast was very good and the view from our table to the lake was scenic and changing with the sunrise.
Tips:I would advise to climb Ben Nevis - as for us during honeymoon that was pretty big adventure! Just don't pick for this mountain walk October, as weather can be pretty extreme! :)
